Dental Cleanings
Our comprehensive dental cleanings adhere to AAHA guidelines and include full-mouth X-rays, oral examination, probing, charting, ultrasonic scaling (i.e., cleaning to remove plaque and tartar), polishing, and extractions if necessary. Pain is carefully controlled using local anesthetic, post-operative medication, and anti-inflammatory or analgesic medication to take home.
Periodontal disease is the most commonly diagnosed condition among pets. By 2 years of age, 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats already show early signs. Untreated dental disease is more than bad breath—within the mouth it can lead to painful tooth decay, loss, bone erosion, and infection, while severe cases can affect the heart, kidney, and liver. Anesthetized dental cleanings are the only way to evaluate your pet’s oral health and prevent disease progression.
